Meet the Baik Lab

We believe that science is for everyone. By making science accessible for all, we can foster scientific excellence and innovation.

Meet Our PI!

Lisa Baik, Ph.D.

I am a neurobiologist interested in studying the mechanism by which blood-feeding arthropods guide their complex behaviors. Mosquitoes are the deadliest animal on earth. My life-long mission is to ‘fight the bite’ and to prevent the spread of deadly pathogens.

I am an assistant professor at UC Davis. I was a K99/R00 postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of John Carlson at the Yale University and a PhD student in Dr. Todd Holmes' lab at UC Irvine.

My favorite part of being a scientist is mentoring the next generation of scientists and sharing my passion for science.

Why Our Work Matters

Advancing mosquito research for a better world

Mosquitoes are considered to be the world’s deadliest animal because they spread dangerous pathogens. The reality is that mosquitoes are much more than just nuisance; they are deadly. By better understanding the basic biology behind their disease-spreading behaviors, we hope to better control them.
