Ricky awarded the eMCDB T32 Fellowship!
Meet Ricky Cantua
Our PhD student, Ricardo “Ricky” Cantua, has been awarded the eMCDB T32 training fellowship from the NIH. We got to celebrate his award with a mini strawberry cake!
Ricky is a first-year PhD student in the Integrative Genetics and Genomics (IGG) Graduate Program.
Before joining our lab, he received a Master’s degree in Biology and a Bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. During this, he reviewed the neurodevelopmental impacts of bisphenol A analogs and described the expression of synaptic proteins relevant in long-term potentiation. He is now looking forward to expanding the foundational genetic knowledge of non-model organisms with large-scale health implications.
The eMCDB T32 training grant (NIH), which is aimed at fostering scientific growth in the field of cellular and molecular biology. The mission of eMCDB T32 is to help students become well-rounded (ethical, creative, rigorous, and resilient) scientists. Receiving this fellowship is especially meaningful as Ricky is motivated to become a mentor and teacher for other aspiring scientists.
Congratulations, Ricky!
